The cafeteria, which has a distinctive tradition in the field of instrumental performance, has been operating for various years under the names “Music Sciences and Directorship,” “Instrumental Performance and Directorship.” At various times, the cafeteria was led by a doctor of arts, Professor Irene Kocherli, Philosopher in Arts, Professor Aytakin Hasanova, Minister of Arts, Philosopher in Arts, Foster Sonakanim Ibrahimova, Philosopher in Arts, Foster Sabine Mehdieva, Philosopher in Arts, and Professor Jamal Nasirova. Aliyev (2013), the 1st Scientific-Performing Conference of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Students of the Faculty of Music Arts held on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev (2017), the 1st Etude Competition “Speed ​​and Courage” (2018), the “Teacher of the Future” competitions of students studying in the “Music Teacher” specialty (2019, 2023), etc. events served to develop the performing abilities of students and expand their creative opportunities. It is noteworthy that students studying in the performing specialty also participated in competitions held abroad. The student performers have successfully performed at the XV International Competition under the title “Renaissance” in the cities of Boloton and Vesperm, Hungary (2015), the Golden Autumn International Festival (2015), the XII “Foundation Benefis” Competition in Poland (2016), the XIII International Pera Piano Festival in Istanbul (2018), the International Competition in Moscow (2020), the “Sing at home” – Italy Online International Festival (2020), the “British Lion” II International Instrumental Music Competition (2022), the II Online International Competition in Classical Guitar (2022), etc., etc.

The Department of Instrumental Performance, along with the teaching process, also pays great attention to organizing concerts with diverse content. The event held on the occasion of Vasif Adigozalov’s 80th anniversary (2015), the “French Music” concert (2016), the concert dedicated to the International Jazz Day organized by UNESCO at the International Mugham Center (2016), the concert of the teachers and students of the Instrumental Performance Department accompanied by the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev under the direction of Teymur Goychayev at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic (2017), the concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of G. Garayev at the International Mugham Center (2018), the “Parallel Worlds” concert of the students of the Instrumental Performance Department within the framework of the Hungarian Days in Azerbaijan (2022), the concert dedicated to the year of “Shusha” (2022), the concert of the Student Chamber Orchestra called “GaynaQ” (2022), the concert of the “Magic Strings” ensemble (2023), the portrait-concert of Raul Huseynov called “From Master to Student” (2024) etc. events are a vivid manifestation of the creative potential of the department.

The rich experience of the department’s staff is reflected in teaching materials based on modern principles of music pedagogy. The textbook “Programmability in the Piano Works of Azerbaijani Composers” by Professor Aytekin Hasanova, a lecturer on the subject “General Piano” intended for various specialties, and the textbook “Programmability in the Piano Works of Azerbaijani Composers” by Associate Professor Javahir Mustafayeva are of great interest.
