Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts

It traces its origins to the Baku Theatre School, established in 1923 by a decision of the Azerbaijan People's Commissariat of Education. At that time, the M.F. Akhundov Baku Theatre School trained actors and directors not only for Azerbaijan but also for Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Dagestan, Crimea, and other regions.

In 1945, the Theatre Institute was established on the basis of the Theatre School, and in 1968, the institution was renamed the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts.

In 1991, the Institute of Arts was granted university status.

Today, operating as the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, the institution comprises five faculties and 21 departments, offering education in 21 undergraduate and 20 master's degree specializations.
