The department offers approximately 120 courses in the fields of humanities and vocational training.

Since September 1, 2001, the Department of Tourism and Library Information at the University of Culture operated under the Department of Economics and Information Technology. On September 12, 2018, the Department of Economics and Information Technology merged with the Department of Tourism and Library Information to form the Faculty of Tourism and Library Information. From 2001 to 2022, the faculty was led by a professor of economics and philosopher in economics. On March 29, 2022, Mahishov, son of Sajavush Elman and a philosopher of arts, was appointed as the head of the faculty.

In response to the needs of society and the labor market in our republic, the department offers bachelor’s degree programs in fields such as “Tourism Management,” “Tourism Guiding,” and “Library and Information Services.” Additionally, it provides specialized expert training in areas including “Tourism and Hotel Promotion,” “Tourism Guiding,” “Tourism and Social and Cultural Services,” and “Management” within sectors like cinema and television, theatre, music, museums, and galleries.

The department offers approximately 120 courses across the fields of humanities and vocational training. The curriculum is designed to explore existing challenges and dynamics within various social sectors, ensuring students acquire the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to tackle both standard and complex issues in social activities.

During the department’s activity, numerous monographs, textbooks, curricula, and methodologies have been published. Additionally, lectures and articles have been presented at prestigious scientific journals and international conferences both domestically and abroad. Notable publications include The Basics of Tourism, Management of Culture and Arts, Public Relations, Computer Technologies, The Writing and Aesthetic Nature of Azerbaijani National Customs and Traditions, World Cultural Policy, Automated Library Information Processes, and others.
