Sadagat Aliyeva

Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Associate Professor

Sadagat Agha Safar Aliyeva was born in 1963 in Baku, Azerbaijan. In 1981, she graduated from Secondary School No. 190 in Baku, and in 1985, she graduated with honors from the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts named after M.A. Aliyev.

Since 1985, she has been engaged in academic and professional activities at the University, beginning her career as a Senior Laboratory Assistant and part-time lecturer at the Department of Cultural and Educational Work. In 1997, she was appointed Lecturer, in 2002 Senior Lecturer, and since 2007 she has served as Head of Department.

In 2006, she was awarded the academic degree of PhD in Cultural Studies (Specialty 6219.01 – Culturology). In 2011, she received the academic title of Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural Studies. In 2012, she entered the doctoral program of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, conducting research under Specialty 6219.01 – Culturology and Its General Issues on the topic “The Woman Problem in Culture: Directions and Problematics of Research.”

Professor Aliyeva has actively participated in numerous international academic events. In 2012, she delivered a presentation at an international conference organized by the Luhansk Institute of Culture in Ukraine. In 2017, she presented a paper at the First International Forum of Caucasus Studies Scholars held at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The same year, she participated in the UNAFORIS-2017 Conference at the University of Paris Descartes, France, dedicated to “Social Work Education in Europe: Challenges and Barriers.”

In 2018, she took part in an academic exchange program at the invitation of Dominican University in the United States. In 2019, she participated in the XVI Educational Programme “History of the Russian State” organized by the Cultural and Historical University in Saint Petersburg. The same year, she attended the International Social Work educational programme at Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria.

In 2019, with the support of UNICEF, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education, and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, she contributed to the development of the first Master’s Programme in Youth Sector Management and Youth Policy and was awarded a diploma in recognition of her contribution.

Since 2018, she has served as an expert of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Associate Professor Aliyeva is the author of one monograph, co-author of three textbooks, author of four textbooks, nearly fifty academic curricula, and numerous scholarly publications.

In 2013, by a decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

She is married and has two children.

The Woman Problem in Culture: Directions and Problematics of Research
(Mədəniyyətdə qadın problemləri: tədqiqatların istiqaməti və problematikası)

This research examines the representation of women in culture, the evolution of scholarly approaches to gender-related issues, and the principal directions and challenges of contemporary cultural studies concerning women’s roles and status in society.
