Graduates of the faculty work in the field of cinema and television.

The faculty was established in 1988.

Students who have a special inclination towards artistic creativity, the necessary knowledge in the field of literature and art, a cultural level, a certain life experience, and observational skills to master the specialty, and who successfully pass the entrance exam organized by the State Examination Center, are admitted to the specialties of film and television director and cinematographer on a competitive basis.

Admission to the specialties of Art Studies (Film Studies) and Artistic Creativity and Screen Dramaturgy (Screenwriter) is based on a points system collected from an exam organized by the State Examination Center.

During the bachelor’s degree, a student acquires the basic knowledge of his profession. At the master’s degree, he learns the intricacies of a subject that is already familiar to him, while also taking a scientific approach to it.

The faculty has a Television and Cinema Education Studio. The studio is headed by Azer Tahir oglu Hasanov.

Professional skills taught to students at the Faculty of Audiovisual Arts:

  • Using knowledge about the main directions and stages of development of audiovisual works;
  • Applying creative ideas and intentions in all areas of art through the study of the development patterns, history, and theory of art, using various means of artistic expression;
  • To understand and evaluate the development of cinema and television in a historical context in the context of the development of other art forms, literature, as well as philosophical, aesthetic, and religious ideas of the humanities in a specific historical period;
  • Filming and organizing audiovisual works;
  • Training in archival activities for the formation, systematization and preservation of film and other audiovisual productions;
  • Teaching the skills of realizing an artistic idea in a professional creative team, managing it, and collaborating with a film crew;
  • Learning the use and management of filmmaking equipment and the basic means of expression in cinema;
  • Mastering the technology of creating dramaturgical works, understanding that montage is the main compositional tool of audiovisual works.
